Revamp Your Wardrobe on Black Friday

Revamp Your Wardrobe on Black Friday

Do you ever walk in your closet and feel completely unsatisfied with what you see? One way to change the way you feel about your clothes is to style up and revamp your wardrobe. What better time to do that than Black Friday? Take advantage of the killer deals and use the tricks and tips below to get you the best look so you feel sexy everyday!

Now, Black Friday is not for the faint of heart. You have to be tough, focused, and ready for competition. I know that Black Friday might be a nightmare for some, but not me. Let’s be honest, I got my wedding Dress during Filene’s Running of the Brides (think Running of the Bulls but instead brides are stampeding for a designer wedding dress for less than $500). That story is for another day, but my mom, best friends, and I did end up on TLC! Just saying!

You are in good hands! Just follow the steps below and you will be on your way to Black Friday fashionista status!Black Friday is not for the faint of heart. You have to be tough, focused, and ready for competition- www.JuliaNicholson.com
  1. Evaluate your current wardrobe status. Really take a look at your clothes. Are there some clothes that just don’t fit? Clothes you haven’t worn in years? Clothes that you bought for a special event that never happened? Are there clothes that you really do need and would wear frequently? Look at what you have and what you need, and if you’re super organized, take some notes.
  2. Purge and consign. Remember those clothes that you never wear or don’t fit? Earn some extra holiday cash by taking these items to places like Plato’s Closet or listing them on your local Facebook Buy, Sell, Trade. This gives you a chance to get rid of the old and make way for the new!
  3. Make a wishlist. Now, think back on what you need to complete your wardrobe. Literally make a list of the clothing items you want and need. You can even add a few trendy items that you are loving to your list or plan ahead for a fabulous New Years’ Eve outfit.
  4. Think staples. Black Friday is a great time to pick up some basic wardrobe staples and items in multiples. These staples are the foundation of your outfit. Consider the items you wear everyday and the everyday outfits that make you feel your best. Making sure you have the following:
  • Casual jeans (holes in the knees are in! Your grandma might hate them, but you’ll look on point!)
  • Skinny jeans
  • Nice dark denim jeans
  • Solid color tees that you can dress up with jewelry or a scarf
  • Leather jacket
  • Black blazer
  • Little black dress

5. Consider statement pieces. You need a few eye-catching pieces that make a statement. Whether it’s a uniquely cut jacket or sequin top, these fun statement pieces can mix in with your staples to make new outfit combinations and show off your personal style. It helps if these can be worn in several ways with several outfits to get the most use out of these pieces.

6. Map and strategize. My mom and I have this fight every year: who gets each sale and ad. We both get a separate newspaper so we can go through it map out our plan of action and have the coupons ready. You don’t have to be a general to figure this out; just think about your wish list items and where you want or need to get them. You can also look through coupons and see which stores have great deals and consider which stores you’d like to visit. If you want an item that is very popular and is on a massive discount, you want to start at that store. Then, you can plan from there which stores you’d like to visit. Just like your grocery store trips, make a list of what you want and where you can get it and try to stick with it!

7. Start Early. You don’t have to camp overnight necessarily (though, if you want to, go for it!), but getting at the stores early can help you grab those great deals before they get snatched up by fellow shoppers. This also gives you more time to shop before the deals run out and you feel ready for Thanksgiving leftovers. Some stores also only have offers early in the morning while the supplies last, so if you spot something on your wishlist, you can grab it while the deal is hot!

8. Remember quality over quantity. This is definitely a belief I have with food, and it’s no different with my clothes! You want to wear something and know that it is going to hold up after you wash it and wear it. It’s easy to pile our arms full of cheap clothes just because they’re on sale, but stick with your list and make sure you are buying clothes that you will actually wear. Think beyond trends and deals and stick with your wardrobe vision!

You’re all set! Have a blast shopping and enjoying some healthy competition for those deals!READY, SET,SHOP- www.JuliaNicholson.com
