What’s The Skinny on the Super Seeds? Chia Seeds vs. Flax Seeds

I’m always looking for the newest health trends and love testing them out to see which ones to use and which to ditch. I decided to do some research on two of the hottest seeds in the health food section these days. Both chia seeds and flax seeds top the list of superfoods. Both are easy to add to your salads or smoothies for a nutritional punch. But is one better than the other? Let’s compare.Chia Seed vs. Flaxseed- www.JuliaNicholson.com

Chia seeds provide an excellent amount of protein, fiber, and omega-3s. Chia seeds also provide even more antioxidants than even blueberries, and since they are whole-grain, are great alternatives to processed Chia Chia- www.JuliaNicholson.comgrains. They also improve digestive health and heart health and are a great energy boost to your metabolism.

You can often spot flax seeds in cereals and crackers already, but there are other ways to add it to your diet. Flax seeds have the highest amount of ligans in our diets, which help with our digestive health and give us antioxidants. As well as being high in fiber, they are low in carbs and can aid in weight loss because they make you feel satisfied longer. They are also pretty easy to add to your food, making them very easy to add to your diet and the healthy foods you already make.

Depending on what source you check out, either chia seeds or flax seeds could win out. If you had to choose based on the above comparison, it looks like chia seeds win out, but not by a landslide. Their benefits are a bit higher, and they take a bit less work, but both are still so beneficial to our diets! Use both! Each have their own nutritional benefits and are an easy addition to your healthy diet where variety is key.
