You might be asking yourself, “What is bone broth and what’s the big deal?” Short answer “liquid gold.” Haha, just kidding, but not really!
Bone broth is actually one of the most healing foods you can have.
Put simply, bone broth is the liquid obtained by simmering a collection of bones, ligaments, seasonings, and vegetables in a large stock pot filled with water.
Bone broth is a nutritional powerhouse that can be consumed by itself as a warm, savory beverage or can be used as the base for many different soups
Plus it’s a good way to make use of many items that would normally be waste (bones and veggie scraps). Bone broth is something that, if you lived 150 years ago, would have been a staple of your diet. It’s part of the way our ancestors made use of every part of the animal, always with a pot simmering on the wood stove (maybe when it gets colder, I’ll send out a post on my favorite Tom Kha Coconut Soup).
THE SIMMERING RELEASES COLLAGEN, PROLINE, GLYCINE, AND GLUTAMINE FROM THE BONES AND LIGAMENTS THAT IS EASY FOR YOUR BODY TO ABSORB. THESE THINGS ARE KEY WHEN WE ARE LOOKING FOR A HEALTHY DIGESTIVE SYSTEM, BETTER SKIN, AND YES EVEN LESS CELLULITE.
So when we are talking about physical appearance bone broth is a natural source of collagen. Many women now are investing in Botox, however, muscles contractions aren’t the big culprit in getting wrinkles, it’s the break down of collagen, which reduces the elasticity of your skin. If you want to create lasting results you have to increase your collagen and one awesome way to do that is drinking bone broth.
The longer you are on your health journey you realize it’s not just about what you eat, it’s about what you digest!!!! Let me say that again
The key to your health isn’t just about what you eat, it’s about what you digest.
That’s why bone broth is so amazing because it’s healing to the gut. Bone broth also contains minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, silicon, sulphur, and the best part is that it’s in forms that your body can easily absorb. Plus, it’s a really tasty and calming beverage. Below are some of the benefits from drinking bone broth:
- Improve joint health
- Reduce cellulite
- Natural source of collagen (the key to the elasticity of your skin, aka wrinkles)
- Boost immune system
- Heal gut lining (aka leaky gut)
- Helps reduce food intolerances
- Improve metabolism
- Promote health muscle growth
I would stay away from conventional store bought broth. It’s poor quality and often contains MSG (this leaves you with cravings and usually leads to eating more). If you have a local butcher shop, they’re likely to carry some.
So what are you waiting for?? Replace your morning cup of Joe with something that is not only savory, but that will improve your metabolism, aid your digestion, and make your skin thank you.
